Rent payments & processing fees
Processing fees are paid by the landlord. Stripe deducts them from the connected payment account. DoorSlate adds no processing fee to the tenant’s payment.
Exact processing rates are not shown in DoorSlate. Check your Stripe account agreement for your rates; Stripe’s published pricing ↗ is a general reference. Your DoorSlate subscription is separate.
Test checkout only: no real money or processing fees. Live rent collection is not activated, even after Stripe account setup is complete.
Live rent collection and AutoPay are not included as available features today.

Do I need a card to get started?
Yes. Choose yearly or monthly and add a payment method to start your 14-day trial. Cancel before the deadline shown at checkout to avoid being charged.
When does my 14-day trial begin?
Only when you explicitly activate DoorSlate Pro and add a payment method. Account creation and property setup do not start a trial. Your activation screen shows the amount due and exact cancellation date before you authorize payment.
Do tenants or applicants pay for membership?
No. Tenant and applicant accounts are free. Current test payments have no processing cost, and DoorSlate adds no tenant payment surcharge. Live collection is not activated. Optional screening and other third-party services are separately priced by their provider.
Does DoorSlate hold my rent?
No. DoorSlate's payment setup uses a landlord's connected Stripe account. Current checkout is for tests only; no real rent moves and live collection is not activated.
Can I use DoorSlate on my phone?
Yes. Open doorslate.com in your phone's browser and sign in with the same account you use on your computer.
Does DoorSlate provide legal advice?
DoorSlate provides software tools, not legal advice. Laws and procedures vary by jurisdiction and circumstance. Consult the appropriate government agency or a qualified attorney regarding your specific situation.
